Research Your Ancestors:

  1. Barbara McClintock’s ancestors immigrated from Norway to settle on the Great Plains. Have students research their family’s past. Where did their ancestors come from if they are not Native American? Many students have ancestors from several different countries.
  2. Have students ask their parents, grandparents, and other relatives about their family’s origins.
  3. Use the following links to research reasons people immigrated to America, to learn where they settled once they arrived, and to understand the impact that successive waves of immigrants had on America.
